The Effectiveness of Nursing Care (Knowing) Against Anxiety Reduction before Preoperation Appendectomy Patients

Introduction: Nursing care is the key to success to help patients overcome anxiety. Surgery often has a psychological impact, one of which is experiencing anxiety in preoperative patients. Nurses have an active role in caring for patients before, during, and after surgery. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of nursing care (knowing) in reducing anxiety in preoperative appendectomy patients.
Methods: This research method used a quasi-experimental method with a control group pretest and posttest group design approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total of 15 respondents for the treatment group and 15 respondents for the control group. Data collection was used with observation sheets and questionnaires using the HARS scale for the anxiety scale.

The results of the observation sample t-test concluded that there was a sig value. (2-tailed) 0,000 (sig. (2-tailed) < 0,05) which indicates that there is a significant change between the mean pre- and post-anxiety values in the experimental group.
Discussion: So it can be concluded that nursing care (knowing) is more effective than those who do not use nursing care (knowing). The results of this study hoped that can provide information so that nursing care (knowing) can be carried out to patients before surgery so that preoperative patient anxiety is really reduced.
