Introduction: National Health Insurance (JKN) participants who are not self-employed workers (PBPU Kerja Mandiri) are in second place with the largest number of participants with a total of 63.39 million participants, which has the potential to become the largest income-contributing segment for BPJS Health. The DJS (Social Security Fund) Health financial report, nationally the highest participant contribution arrears are for Non-Wage-Earning Independent Workers (PBPU-Mandiri Workers) participants (Rp. 5,654,930,976,944.00), namely 86.88% of total outstanding dues. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between income, number of family members, access to payment, knowledge and perception and compliance with payment of PBPU contributions for independent workers at BPJS Health KC East Jakarta.
Methods: The type of research used was quantitative research using a cross sectional design with 100 respondents who are PBPU-Independent Workers participants in the East Jakarta BPJS Health Branch Office area. The data collected consisted of primary data and secondary data from BPJS office data and questionnaires.
Results: The research results show that there is a relationship between the variables income, number of family members, knowledge and perception, but the variable access to payment shows no relationship with compliance with paying contributions to the Independent Worker PBPU at BPJS Health KC East Jakarta.
Discussion: Suggestions for BPJS are to simplify the payment process, provide automatic reminders to participants, provide inserts for compliant participants, and carry out intensive monitoring and evaluation.
