Abstract

Introduction: Older people are more susceptible to type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Duration of suffering diabetes and obesity are risk factors for complications. If the patient is not treated seriously, it will cause an increase in urea creatinine which indicates the presence of kidney disease.

Methods: Type of quantitative research with cross-sectional research design. The research sample is 40 respondents taken by purposive sampling. The instruments were interviews and observations using guides and observation sheets to see the blood sugar, urea and creatinine levels.

Results: Statistical test using the chi-square test with a 95% degree of confidence when p < 0,05. The results of the study on duration of suffering with urea levels found a p-value of 0,011 (p < 0,05); duration of suffering with creatinine levels p-value 0.003 (p < 0,05); and obesity with creatinine levels p-value 0,001 (p < 0.05) while the relationship between obesity and urea levels used the Fisher's Exact Test with a p-value of 0,001 (p < 0,05).

Discussion: There is a relationship between duration of suffering and urea levels, duration of suffering and creatinine levels, obesity, and blood creatinine levels in elderly people with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Grha Permata Ibu Hospital, Depok in 2022. Suggestions for the need for special criteria for results laboratories as well as complaints from patients who need to be hospitalized and who can be treated/consulted only through telemedicine.
