Abstract

Introduction: During the menstrual cycle a significant number of women encounter the discomfort associated with dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea refers to the experience of lower abdomen pain that occurs during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea which is the most prevalent menstruation disorder is seen to impact around 90% of women throughout various stages of their lifespan. There are other factors that have been associated with an elevated chance of having dysmenorrhea such as genetics, physical activity, age of menarche, dietary patterns and the length of both menstruation and the menstrual cycle.

Methods: This study used cross-sectional research design with quantitative research type. This research was conducted in July 2023 at MAN 5 in Bogor. The population of this study was 10th grade students with a total of 160 students. The sample of this study was 120 respondents taken by simple random sampling method. Univariate and bivariate analysis were used in this study using the chi-square test.

Results: The results illustrate that nutritional status p = 0,393 which means there is no significant relationship with the incidence of mild dysmenorrhea menarche p = 0,731 which means there is no significant relationship with the incidence of mild dysmenorrhea and physical activity p = 0,045 which means there is a significant relationship with the incidence of mild dysmenorrhea.

Discussion: From the results of the study there is a significant relationship with the incidence of mild dysmenorrhea is physical activity, while nutritional status and menarche there is no significant relationship with the incidence of mild dysmenorrhea in adolescents at MAN 5 in Bogor.
