Abstract

Introduction: WHO reported that approximately 40% of maternal deaths in developing countries are related to anemia during pregnancy. Anemia is a decrease in the mass of red blood cells or total hemoglobin (Hb) levels, with pregnant mothers having less than 11.0 g/dL. Several factors that cause anemia in pregnancy include parity, age, level of knowledge, economic status, educational level, and compliance with iron tablets. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of education using pocketbooks and booklets on knowledge about anemia in pregnant women.

Methods: The research design used in this study was a quantitative quasi-experiment method with a pre-test post-test non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study was all pregnant women in UPTD Puskesmas Simpang Teritip. A total of 40 people were sampled using total sampling technique. The data were analyzed using Paired t-test and Linear Regression Test.

Results: The results of the study showed that the average difference in the Booklet and Pocket Book groups was 1.6 and a p value of 0.041 (<0.05) was also obtained.

Discussion: There is a significant influence on knowledge in the group. The discussion of the study was that there is an influence of education using pocket books and booklets on knowledge about anemia in pregnant women at the UPTD Simpang Teritip Health Center, West Bangka in 2024 with a P value of 0.041.
