The Effect of Hypnotherapy on Anxiety Reduction Among Uima Nursing Students
Abstract
Anxiety during thesis preparation is commonly experienced by nursing students and may affect concentration, academic performance, and psychological well-being. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to reduce anxiety is hypnotherapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of hypnotherapy on reducing anxiety among nursing students at Universitas Indonesia Maju. A quasi-experimental study using a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was conducted. Participants were divided into intervention and control groups. Anxiety levels were measured before and after the intervention using a standardized anxiety questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a decrease in anxiety score from 111.7 to 105.5, while the control group showed a decrease from 113.1 to 111.5. The gain score in the intervention group (-6.3) was greater than that in the control group (-1.7). Statistical analysis showed a significant effect of hypnotherapy on anxiety reduction (Z=-2.388; p=0.017). Hypnotherapy was effective in reducing anxiety among nursing students during thesis preparation.Downloads
