Pengaruh White Noise terhadap Kualitas Tidur pada Pasien dengan Infark Miokard Akut
The Effect of White Noise on Sleep Quality in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction

Introduction: Patients with acute myocardial infarction may experience sleep disturbance due to symptoms and the hospital environment. White noise has been proposed as an adjunct to reduce perceived environmental noise. Objective: To describe changes in sleep quality reported in the final research report from Amira Hospital. Methods: The stated design was a non-equivalent control group quasi-experiment with pretest and posttest assessments in 24 patients. The intervention group received white noise for three days alongside routine treatment. Sleep quality was assessed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Results: The report classified 16 patients (66.7%) as having good sleep quality before treatment and 24 (100.0%) afterward. Mean scores decreased from 5.67 to 4.50 in the intervention group (p = 0.001) and from 5.33 to 3.33 in the control group (p = 0.002). A separate table reported a change from 4.50 to 3.33 (p < 0.001), but its values do not match the intervention-group pretest and posttest values. Conclusion: Sleep scores changed during hospitalization; the specific added benefit of white noise cannot be established without reconciling the group-level data.
