Keywords:

Background: Mothers of low birth weight infants need clear kangaroo mother care (KMC) information, while concurrent changes in knowledge and anxiety following video education remain relevant. Objective: To compare changes in these outcomes after video education versus routine counseling. Methods: A two-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental analysis used 60 synthetic maternal profiles, with 30 in each group. Knowledge scores ranged from 0 to 20 and anxiety scores from 0 to 10. Results: Knowledge changed from 9.1 ± 1.9 to 14.9 ± 2.2 in the video group and from 9.2 ± 2.0 to 11.6 ± 2.1 in the comparator group. Anxiety changed from 6.5 ± 1.1 to 4.4 ± 1.7 and from 6.8 ± 1.1 to 6.3 ± 1.6, respectively. Between-group differences in mean change were 3.4 knowledge points and -1.5 anxiety points. Conclusion: In synthetic profiles, video education was associated with greater knowledge gains and anxiety reduction. Clinical effectiveness requires prospective evaluation.
