Abstract

Emergency conditions require rapid and appropriate treatment to prevent disability and death. Community knowledge plays an important role in determining how quickly emergency victims receive initial assistance and are referred to health facilities. This study aimed to determine the relationship between community knowledge and emergency response time. The study used a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 120 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a community knowledge questionnaire and an emergency response time assessment form. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that respondents with good knowledge tended to have faster emergency response times than those with poor knowledge. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between community knowledge and emergency response time (p=0.001). Community knowledge is an important factor influencing the speed of emergency management. Increasing public education regarding emergency situations is expected to improve emergency response and reduce morbidity and mortality rates.
