Abstract

Triage is an essential process in emergency departments to determine patient priorities according to the severity of their condition. Inaccurate triage decisions may result in delayed treatment, increased morbidity, and inefficient use of healthcare resources. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between triage implementation and the accuracy of emergency patient classification. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted involving 85 emergency nurses working in hospital emergency departments. Data were collected using a triage implementation questionnaire and an emergency patient classification accuracy observation sheet. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05. The findings revealed that nurses with good triage implementation demonstrated higher accuracy in classifying emergency patients compared to nurses with inadequate triage implementation. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between triage implementation and the accuracy of emergency patient classification (p=0.001). Proper triage implementation contributes to improved patient prioritization and supports quality emergency care delivery.
