Global Research Trends of School Quality of Life Among Adolescents: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

Introduction: School quality of life (SQOL) is an important indicator reflecting adolescents’ physical, psychological, social, and academic well-being within educational environments. Poor school quality of life has been associated with academic stress, emotional problems, low school engagement, and reduced learning achievement. Research regarding school quality of life among adolescents has increased globally; however, the development patterns, dominant themes, and research gaps require further exploration. Objective: This study aimed to analyze global research trends related to school quality of life among adolescents using a bibliometric approach. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using Scopus database publications from 2010 to 2025. Articles related to school quality of life among adolescents were retrieved and analyzed using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix. Publication trends, citation analysis, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic clustering were performed. Results: A total of 386 publications were identified. The visualization analysis revealed four major research clusters: psychological well-being and mental health, school environment and relationships, academic experiences and student engagement, and health promotion interventions. Dominant keywords included quality of life, adolescents, school environment, mental health, well-being, and academic performance. Conclusion: Global research on school quality of life among adolescents has developed toward a multidimensional perspective involving psychological, social, educational, and health aspects.
