Trends in the Use of Complementary Therapy for Hypertension: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a major public health problem requiring comprehensive management, including complementary therapies such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, and non-pharmacological interventions. This study aimed to analyze publication trends and research themes related to complementary therapies for hypertension. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on publications from 2015 to 2024 using VOSviewer and bibliometrix. The results showed an increasing publication trend, with dominant keywords including hypertension, blood pressure, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and complementary therapy. The thematic mapping indicated a shift from traditional therapy use toward research on effectiveness, safety, and integration with conventional treatment. Research on complementary therapies for hypertension continues to develop, although stronger and standardized clinical studies are needed to support evidence-based implementation.
