Abstract

COVID-19 has encouraged the implementation of preventive behaviors, including personal protection and food hygiene practices. This study aimed to analyze urban communities' adherence to personal protection and food hygiene recommendations for COVID-19 prevention. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted from August to September 2022 among residents aged ≥17 years in Greater Jakarta. Of 515 respondents, 493 met the analysis criteria. Data were analyzed using univariate and chi-square tests. The results showed that 50.5% of respondents had good adherence to personal protection, while 41.4% had good adherence to food hygiene. Gender was associated with personal protection adherence, while gender, education, and comorbidity status were associated with food hygiene adherence. In conclusion, adherence to personal protection was higher than adherence to food hygiene, indicating the need to strengthen food hygiene education and preventive practices among urban communities.
