Abstract

Introduction: Insomnia is one of the common sleep problems experienced by university students and may negatively affect academic performance, psychological well-being, and quality of life. Academic stress, anxiety, and learning environment are considered important factors contributing to sleep disturbances among students. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between academic stress, anxiety, learning environment, and insomnia severity among university students in 2024. Methods: This study employed a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted among 120 university students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Academic Stress Scale, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), Learning Environment Questionnaire, and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Data were analyzed using Chi-Square and logistic regression tests. Results: The results showed that 54.2% of students experienced moderate-to-severe insomnia. Academic stress (p=0.001), anxiety (p=0.000), and learning environment (p=0.008) were significantly associated with insomnia severity. Students with high academic stress and anxiety had a higher risk of experiencing severe insomnia. Conclusion: Academic stress, anxiety, and learning environment are associated with insomnia severity among university students. Stress management programs, psychological support, and improvement of learning environments are needed to improve students' sleep quality.
