Production Strategy of PT Indosiar Visual Mandiri Research and Development Division in Efforts to Develop Liga Dangdut Indonesia 2021 Program

Introduction: Television, particularly Indosiar, a private TV station in Indonesia, has a popular program called the Indonesian Dangdut League, a talent search program for dangdut singers. However, in 2021, the program's ratings declined due to increasing competition and changing audience interests during the pandemic. To address these issues, the Research and Development division played a crucial role in developing the program by following standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the pre-production, production, and post-production stages. The aim was to determine the Research and Development strategy for developing the Indonesian Dangdut League program in 2021.
Methods: The methodology in this study used descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach in which data collection was carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation.
Results: Based on the research, it was found that in the Research and Development effort to develop the Indonesian Dangdut League program by using a new strategy, namely the presence of a new host, the veto button to assist participants in elimination, gimmick interesting information about participants, and the existence of ambassadors where with this new strategy the League program was created. Indonesian Dangdut has grown, as seen from the Indonesian Dangdut League program rating, which has improved and is included in the top 10 television ratings, occupying the 10th position.
Discussion: Researchers in the Research and Development division have observed significant improvement in communication issues during the development of the Liga Dangdut Indonesia 2021 program. Currently, there is mutual collaboration, and production is aligned with programming inputs. The program has been under development since March and recently, on June 7, 2021, it has achieved a top 10 TV station rating, ranking at the 10th position.
