Introduction: Television news programs remain an important medium for delivering economic and public policy information to a broad audience. Within this context, the role of the Executive Producer is crucial in ensuring that complex and sensitive issues are presented accurately, objectively, and attractively. This study focuses on the production strategies of the Executive Producer in the Market Review program on IDX Channel, particularly in covering the themes “Rice Prices Drive the First Deflation in Eight Months” and “The Controversy over the Granting of Mining WIUPK to Religious Organizations.”
Methods: This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation involving key production personnel in the Market Review program.
Results: The findings show that the Executive Producer plays a central role in all stages of production, including pre-production, production, and post-production. The strategies applied involve selecting timely and relevant issues, determining credible sources, and developing creative ideas in content planning. Nevertheless, the production process faces several challenges, particularly limited production time and difficulties in securing sources that meet editorial standards.
Discussion: The results indicate that the leadership, decision-making, and production management skills of the Executive Producer significantly affect the quality, accuracy, and attractiveness of television news programs. Therefore, adaptive and well-planned production strategies are essential to maintain journalistic quality in television media, especially when addressing complex economic and policy-related issues.
