Introduction: Instagram is a visual social media used by various institutions including BAZNAS RI to quickly disseminate information through flash news content. However, engagement such as likes, comments and audience shares on this content is still relatively low. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the influence of shooting techniques on the level of audience engagement on flash news content.
Methods: This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. The data was obtained through in-depth interviews with three key informants, namely producers, videographers, and editors from BAZNAS TV. In addition, observations of the production process and documentation from Instagram uploads are also used to support the data.
Results: The results show that the shooting techniques used in flash news content are still dominated by static viewpoints without variation, such as eye-level and minimal camera movement. This has an impact on low visual appeal resulting in low audience engagement. In contrast, content with dynamic visual techniques such as angle variations and camera movements gets higher engagement.
Discussion: These findings suggest that shooting techniques play an important role in shaping audience perceptions and driving interaction on social media. The implementation of innovative visual techniques can help improve the quality of message delivery and encourage greater audience engagement with flash news content on Instagram.
