Evaluation of Active and Passive Fire Protection Facilities Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No 26/PRT/M2008 at PT. Gerbang Sarana Baja in 2021

Abstract

Introduction: Fire is a disaster that can happen anywhere. No workplace, building, or work environment is free from fire hazards. Fires in the workplace can have a detrimental impact on institutions, workers, and the affected environment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the fulfillment of active and passive fire protection systems in buildings.

Methods: This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The technique used in this research is purposive sampling.

Results: The results of this study found that the active protection system available at PT. Steel Gate Facilities such as sprinklers, Upright Pipes, and Hydrants are not in accordance with the provisions contained in the Minister of Public Works Regulation No 26/PRT/M/2008 due to the absence of fire protection. Meanwhile, the passive protection facilities at PT. Gerbang Sarana Baja such as emergency exits, fire-resistant construction, and emergency lighting is not in accordance with the provisions contained in the Minister of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia No 26/PRT/M/2008, and regarding exit facilities, directions for exits. at PT. Gerbang Sarana Baja in accordance with the provisions contained in the Minister of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia No 26/PRT/M/2008.

Discussion: The PT. Gerbang Sarana Baja active fire protection system such as sprinklers, stand pipes and hydrants has not complied with the provisions contained in the Minister of Public Works Decree No 26/PRT/M/2008 due to the absence of fire protection, while the passive protection facilities at PT. Sarana Baja Gate is like an emergency door. The fire-resistant construction and emergency lighting are not in accordance with the provisions contained in the Minister of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia No 26/PRT/M/2008.
