Relationship Between Motivation, Interests, and Attitudes about Breast Self-Examination (Consciousness) with Self-Examination Practices in Class Xi Young Women

Introduction: Breast cancer is now the number one killer in Indonesia. Every year it is estimated that there are 100 new sufferers per 100,000 population in Indonesia. The risk of breast cancer increases with age, even young age does not guarantee safety from breast cancer.
Methods This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional research design. A sample of 66 respondents in Class Xi Young Women at Bina Bangsa high school in 2023 using a probability sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate.
Results: The results showed that there were 38 young women (57%) who had high motivation, 39 people (59%) who had a high interest and a positive attitude, namely 38 people (57%); and 40 young women who had breast self-examinations (53%). There is a significant relationship between motivation and the results of statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test obtained 0,644; Interest 0,471; and Attitude 0,772 towards the practice of breast self-examinations in young women at Bina Bangsa high school.
Discussion: Breast self-examinations practice is influenced by motivation, interest, and attitude. Suggestion: It is expected to be more active in providing counseling or KIE, putting up media posters, and providing leaflets related to breast self-examinations practice, so that it can generate motivation and interest in young people in breast self-examinations practice.
