The Relationship of The Level of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Family Support with Efforts to Control Hypertension in The Elderly

Introduction: Non-communicable diseases are still a serious problem today, one of which is hypertension. The increasing prevalence of hypertension every year is a major problem in both developing and developed countries. The number of people with hypertension continues to increase every year, it is estimated that 1.5 billion people will be affected by hypertension in 2025, and it is estimated that every year 10.44 million people will die from hypertension and its complications. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and family support with efforts to control hypertension in the elderly in the working area of the Jatiluhur Health Center.
Methods: The study design used was cross-sectional. The sample in this study was 108 elderly respondents. The analytical descriptive research method is processed using SPSS and Microsoft Excel.
Results: The sampling technique was purposive based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data used are primary data through the distribution of questionnaires and secondary data derived from books and literature.
Discussion: Data analysis was done univariately and bivariately using the Chi-square test. Based on the Statistical Test, there was 1 variable. The results showed a relationship between family support and a p-value of 0.029 (p <0.05) The OR values obtained were 2.380 and 2. The variable has no relationship with knowledge with a p-value of 0.203 (p > 0.05), there is no relationship between attitude and a p-value of 0.253 (p > 0.05) with controlling hypertension efforts in the work area of the Jatiluhur Health Center, Bekasi City in 2023.
